I’m 19 years old and have recently resigned from my full-time job. It was a great pay with insurance and benefits as well, but it was also a toxic environment. The people I worked with consisted of way older women who treated me badly and I had enough. My job was draining me both physically and mentally, not to mention I was on third shift and my health has been deteriorating ever since. It got to the point where I couldn’t even get out of bed to go to work, I just dreaded it. Plus I had already racked up so many points from being off work for my health problems and I was only half a point away from being fired. (8 points max allowed, I was at 7.5) so I decided to just leave, all of this was just far too much to handle.
So I resigned last night and called it my last. I did not give a 2 week notice. I emailed my boss and said thanks for the opportunity, tonight will be my last night, and that I’m now off to experience new things. I sent my email about 20 minutes before my shift. I didn’t go in for my shift that night and won’t be from now on. Unprofessional, yes I know, I could’ve handled that way better. But it’s been done and said already, too late now.
I feel as though I’m abandoning my job or something. Nobody including my boss has said anything about my email or replied to it and it’s been almost 2 days. Nobody noticed I haven’t been in for my shifts or has acknowledged my email. I still have my job badge as well. Should I just leave it from there? Any advice?
