Asked to Interview For Another Role?

I had a good interview last week but this week the company came back and asked me to interview for a higher-level role in the same department. They are really moving fast as they want me to interview tomorrow. Has anyone else had this happen? It's the first time I've dealt with this and I'm wondering if it's because my initial salary range was too high for the first role.
