I was recently and abruptly fired from a job for perceived performance issues, after 6 months. I thought I had until the end of October, at the least. I'm being paid two lump sums: one for signing an adhering to a Non Disclosure Agreement, and the other for severance. They only offered one month. I was let go without being put on a performance plan and its something my coworkers had mentioned to me in the weeks leading up to my dismissal.
What do I have a right to? Does it hurt to ask for 3 months severance? Is it as simple as "the company owes you nothing?"
