Message to hiring manager ????

Does anyone have any advice on this ?

For anyone who hasn't seen one before I tried to upload a pic but not allowed. Its a text box on the application website that wants me to.. "Let the company know about your interest working there"

I have never had one of these before. Most places I apply tell me that they would just prefer a cover letter. Which honestly I wouldn't be surprised if they ask for one after this FML.

Anyways, does anyone have experience with these ? Do they even read them ? Should I only do a small paragraph ? Should i just throw my damn usual cover letter in it ?
