Hi all, thanks to browsing this sub, posting pertinent questions, and remaining vigilant during my job hunt, I received not one but TWO job offers!
Here comes the fun part of the job hunt; negotiations. How can I use one offer to one-up the other, and vice-versa? Does HR ever ask for proof of the other offer?
For example, if I say something along the lines of, "Company A is offering 56k... can you at least match that?" to Company B, would they request to see the offer? And yes, I do know the average salary for the industry and position, and I will not push it.
Technically... Company A is offering 50k with a 6k signing bonus, so not exactly a 56k salary, but for 2021 (when I'm projected to start) it's not too far from the truth (since 50k+6k = 56k for the entire year) would there be any legal issues for stretching the truth a little? Company B is offering a flat 51k salary, which I'm happy with but can always use more. My preference is to work at Company B.
Sorry if these questions seem stupid, haha! I'm an upcoming grad and this is my first time getting any formal offers. Thanks all!
