I have worked a handful of customer service jobs and am currently in one, and I always lie to myself by telling myself I won’t mind it. I am a very sensitive, empathetic person ( I know, I know— I’m an eMpAtH sorry) so although I don’t take things personally, it is still pretty draining when I’m unable to help someone out or give someone bad news (I’m a csr for an insurance company) and they’re upset or angry. It’s as if I am absorbing their feelings?
I know they’re usually not mad at me; they’re mostly the situation and I just happen to be the one they take it out on. But It’s to the point where I feel like I carry it with me when I go home.
TLDR: are there actual people in this world that don’t find customer service jobs draining and actually enjoy them?
