Responding to Rejection

I applied for a position as an analyst role with this company. After going through the interview process (which I felt went great) I received a call from the recruiter to let me know that they went through with someone else. As feedback she told me that I used a lot of filler words like umm, yeah, like. I have 2 questions. 1) Is that a valid reason to reject someone or was it just her way of giving me any sort of feedback? 2) She sent me an email after the call with the same justification, should I respond to it and if yes, how? Thank you.
