I’m being told that I have to train my new manager because I’m the only one that can. I wanted that job but was told I wasn’t qualified. What should I do?

Pretty much the title. I’ve been told I need to train my new boss (J) because the current guy (B) is temporary and doesn’t really understand what is going on. I applied for this management position a few months ago and was told, more than once, that I wasn’t qualified. Now I’m supposed to on board J as B didn’t pick up a whole lot in the four months he was instructed to “hold the fort”. To B’s own admission, I did the majority of the work and kept the department afloat.

Needless to say I’m pretty upset about being snubbed. What’s more, J has a lesser degree than me and only two years of any management experience. I have been in this department for three years and have a good working relationship with everyone in my department.

What should I do? I know it’s not J’s fault walking into this but I’m sick of upper management not seeing my worth. I feel used.
