Do customer service at an E-commerce website with career advancement opportunities or stick with retail and the gig economy? What's the better path?

I have a decision I need to make within the next week but other outside factors could point me in one direction over the other.

My current situation is that I work retail which gives me 32 hours a week full time with benefits at $15. My freelancing gig nets me $25 an hour but I only did 13 hours worth of work this month.

I'm 8 months in my retail position and up for a promotion. I am about one month in getting steady freelancing work in an industry I want to leave (IT). Both the retail job and the freelancing was a means to an end and retail was if I'd actually like sales/customer service. I do!

Now, an opportunity has come this week. The head of customer service at an e-commerce company that sells electronics called me and asked to interview. This is a guy I clicked with right away, and this has never happened in the 100+ so interviews I had been on in recent years. He was very straight forward with a bunch of my questions, and with my background he sees me advancing quite rapidly in the company. This job would pay $19 an hour with benefits and the supervisor position at my store pays the same.

Now, the store chain I currently work at is undergoing restructure making us learn products we didn't sign up to learn and the only way I'd be happy to learn these products is with more pay. If I don't get the supervisor job my decision is simple.

Pros and Cons:

My idea is that going with the e-commerce company with some products I actually already know and the pathway into careers that I'd love such as Relationship Manager or Product Specialist looks better than staying at retail.

Even if this is more of a call center environment, I did like taking calls from our customers when our store was shut down to outside traffic for two months.

The only downside is that I would lose out on some of the freelancing gig $$$ but as I mentioned before I only actually made about $400 from it in a month.

The downside of leaving the retail job is that I will be working from home (Winter is coming!). After I got the retail job I really grew a lot and got over the depression I was experiencing after being in tech support for years and being treated like a slave. I still am a slave at retail, but at least my coworkers are great and make it fun!

Any reason to stick with retail?
