I am currently in a position where I have 2 companies I am deciding between:
Company A - I've gone through an extensive interview process and they seemed to like me. I am anticipating an offer soon as they just asked me for my references after the final interview.
Company B - I went through only 1 interview and was extended a verbal offer.
I actually prefer company A over company B, but I am waiting for an offer from A, and B seems to only want to send me a written offer letter if I accept the verbal offer.
Can I accept B's verbal offer then decline the written offer if A gets back to me?
My concern is if there is any kind of legal situation that may arise if I accept B's verbal (not the written) offer and then rescind my acceptance once I hear back from A. I am in California if that is relevant legally.
