I had an interview yesterday morning for a job I really want. I keep thinking about it over and over and wondering if I did anything to jeopardize my chance of landing the position.
The job is a Fed Govt job, and it's closer to my family back east, so it would be ideal for me. The job is moving very quickly for a government job, it had been just over two weeks since submitting the application that I already had an interview. I thought I butchered my chances when they asked a question regarding a sampling technique I did not know how to do, but was honest and said I was inexperienced in this sampling and really have only taken food samples and that my current employer has businesses or other agencies do the sampling if needed. Before this question I was doing really well I thought. I then tried to bring the interview back to a positive end by asking more about the details of the job and what types of advancement and training there were there etc. At the end of the interview I asked if they wanted my references and they said yes. Then they stated I had a great resume, I was highly qualified, and I interviewed well, and if I was selected I should be hearing from staffing soon.
This morning I sent over my references by e-mail and also thanked them for interviewing me in this e-mail. I heard back pretty quickly from one of the panel members thanking me for providing the references, and that they "enjoyed my interview" and to contact them if they had any questions or concerns.
The compliments seem reassuring, as really they don't need to be providing compliments at all so it seems like a good sign. But I did not get my normal interview jitters (I think this being a phone interview instead of normal in-person one benefitted me). Now I have post-interview jitters and want to know some other good signs for an interview.
