I left my previous employer due to a toxic work environment after 5 months of employment. It was a contract role with no end date. As I am currently searching for a new job now, I am telling prospective employers the correct dates of my employment (August-December) but I am telling them that my temporary contract role ended and was completed - instead of saying I quit.
Can prospective employers find out that I instead quit my last job through employment verification checks? I have been telling them otherwise to prevent me from being overlooked. They would have to contact the temp-hire agency that placed me into the job, instead of the company I worked for to get info?
