Have you ever hired a career coach?

I'm trying to take the next step in my career. In addition to a step up, it will likely require a step sideways into another industry. I've looked into career coaches, but the ones I've found seem to focus on people early in career. I'm curious if others have worked with one and had success? How do you recommend finding one?
