Hey there r/jobs, I'd like to know how you've connected with good recruiters. Someone who has a thumb on realistic expectations for your next position, while also helping you get that foot in the door for a promising career path, so to speak.
Unfortunately whenever I've encountered a "recruiter" in my professional career, it's boiled down to a few scenarios:
- It's a temp agency. Not ALWAYS a red flag, but usually very underwhelming job opportunities with these.
- They try to herd me towards jobs that I'm clearly not qualified for. We're talking non-entry level jobs, stuff where hard skills or industry experience is a must. (I don't mind 'shooting my shot', but not with every single job lead).
- They get me lined up for slam-dunk job opportunities, like call centers or outside sales. Dead end, soul sucking jobs that I'm trying to avoid.
I'm looking for an entry level position right now, such as a marketing assistant, or introductory analyst/planner etc. Something that takes a bit of savvy to get into, but doesn't have a huge barrier to entry like a STEM field where proper education is required.
If you care, my TL;DR is that I'm late 20's, liberal arts degree holder (business minor) and have a few years of professional experience in retail management, customer service/call centers, and sales. No extreme 'hard skills' to lean on ATM, but I have some certifications and familiarity with Google Ads/Analytics and some digital marketing principles.
