I am currently on day 3 of a summer job at a hardware store. I thought it would be fun and interesting to learn retail and learn how to go about everything but instead it has just been miserable. My feet hurt so bad I can barely walk and my back also hurts because they get me to move lots of heavy items with no help up ladders and such. However I have already accepted the job but I hate it. I also have to commute 50 minutes there and 50 minutes back.
The COVID response has also been terrible. Many employees are shaking hands with customers and random people and not staying 6 feet apart. I never got any safety training except for one that is required by the government. I expected it to be difficult but not to the point my whole body is hurting immensely. I don’t need the money, I was trying to earn it just to have fun with it. What should I do? How would it look in the future if I’m applying to places? The place does have a high turnover rate.
