Recent College Grad with Only One Internship, Programming Experience, and a Desire to Try Out Banking (Credit Risk and Commercial Lending)
Hi r/jobs,
I graduated in 2019 and was fortunate to find a job at a tech company that isn't good (meaning I do not want to stay working here for a long period of time), but will pay the bills for the time being.
I graduated with only one internship and have been told repeatedly by recruiters that it "doesn't count" since it wasn't a private market internship (I was doing in house data analysis for a humanities lab). I plan to study for my CFA in the coming months, but I wonder if my lack of internships in finance will hold me back if I apply to corporate finance positions. Does it get harder to lateral over to another field? I have already graduated, so most internships are a no-go for me and my GPA is a bit low for graduate school (CGPA:3.0, Last Institution: 2.8-ish).
