So I got my dream job at a clothing store I always shop at. Too bad they pay minimum wage though. I didn’t care, I accepted it because that’s what I was offered at the time and hey I get a deep discount on the clothes. I’ve been there for about two weeks and decided to get another retail job to supplement it. I passed on that job eventually because it was in a really bad area, so I only have this one job. Told my managers when I got the second job and also told them I couldn’t do it anymore because my parents wouldn’t allow it (because it’s in a bad area, this is actually true). my managers told me when I took the second job they can see me working my way up the company and they were looking to give me full time hours. This excited me so much I decided I’d stick it out and actually work my way up. I passed up a lot of job opportunities for this minimum wage job and now I’m completely regretting doing that. My excuse was working for 7.25 for some cute clothes will be worth it, but now I’m thinking otherwise. After working there for two weeks, first of all you don’t make enough to really ball out and buy a bunch of their stuff, second I realized I really prefer department stores because of the quality you get for the price & working for this store I’ve been dreaming of working for for years is not all that honestly. The thing is, I know for a fact that when I graduate I will be a nurse, so I don’t fear I’ll be stuck in the retail world. I’ve reapplied to a job I turned down and some new ones and I’m considering just not showing up anymore when I get offered another opportunity (speaking it into existence). I expect to get some sort of call back because I got so many over the course of a couple weeks. I just feel too invested with my minimum wage job that I feel like I can’t even turn in a two week notice without feeling dumb. Should I pursue other opportunities? When I get offered another position, should I just no call no show? I’m sure they see it all the time and in a year I’m expecting they’d forget all about me if I were to do so.
