I'm about to sign onto my second year at a non-profit organization and my manager said that I can either keep my current title of Program Coordinator or that I can switch it to Program Assistant. There's no difference in my work. I'll be doing the same job. But I will get a slight pay raise that's equivalent to what a second year Program Assistant would get.
I could easily move to the new title, but I'm concerned that my next job would see it as a demotion of some sort. I will need to list this on my resume, LinkedIn, email, etc. and I won't necessarily be able to explain the situation to someone just casually reading through my experience.
Does anyone know what the outlook is from the outside about the two role titles? Is Program Assistant more impressive or Program Coordinator? TYIA
