Handwritten or Email Thank you notes?

I really want this job that I'm going to interview for soon and I feel like a handwritten note might make me pop out. But, I don't want to look too butt-kissy or desperate. I already sent a thank you email after the initial phone interview. It's also for an engineering position so I don't know if I'll look unusual, inefficient or waste their time. I was also thinking about dropping off the letters at the reception area. What do you think?
