I'm currently living in a small town in the middle of nowhere. I was here for my Software Engineering degree but I've decided to drop out because of funds. I simply cant afford to keep going. I was halfway through the degree, and honestly they aren't going to teach me much more than I already know. They only offer courses in one language (C++), and most jobs I've looked at want me to be experienced in things like JS and Python. I've started teaching myself JS and I'm trying to build a portfolio of programs I've written in that and C++.
Anyway, back to the question. There's not a lot of options where I live to get a job in programming. Most of them revolve around working at military research facilities and they want people with far more experience than I currently have. I've looked a bit into jobs in Salt Lake, but I'd love some tips on what cities are really booming at the moment. Good websites to search with would be great too.
