Been shadowing and training for a dental assistant position but my boss is giving me mixed signals in terms of hiring me or making a decision.

So I started a dental assistant job on Monday and last week when me and the doctor had an interview through zoom he made a decision to start a trial day which was this past Monday during the trial day I shadowed him and actually got to work as well I was also paid for the day and I've been working since Monday at his office so he continue to have me come in.

I'm just a little confused because yesterday he told me you can go out and buy navy blue scrubs and that he's going to make me my own login to clock in and my own locker so I took it as he had plans on keeping me and I took it as he made a decision.

As far as I can tell I'm not a genius because obviously I have no experience in dentistry only in medical assistant so I don't know it all and I have to ask questions but overall I think I'm doing fine I'm starting to get the hang of it and he tells me very good or that my first day was amazing so it's not like I'm doing something wrong for him to think different.

But today when I left he said I'll see you tomorrow at 8 AM and I'll call you tonight which drew a red flag to me that made me nervous so he called me to check up and he said I want to thank you for giving me the time in my practice and helping me out and I want to thank you for wanting to learn dentistry and working with me and then he told me he will see me tomorrow and that he will make a final decision on Friday but I'm going to keep working up to Friday what do you think this means? Does it sound like he's going to move forward or just use me for the week and end it?
