This is a follow-up on this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/jobs/comments/grvpqw/company_who_rejected_me_is_making_contact_again/
So basically, a company that I interviewed for a few months back contacted me for another position within the same Marketing team. I clearly made enough of an impression that they called back. The Marketing Director told me the job description and I was interested. Now here's what happened, after I spoke to her.
Interview #1 with VP of Sales: Went well, no issues there.
Interview #2 with CMO: Went well, no issues as well.
After speaking with the Marketing Director again, she offered me the position over the phone. She THEN asked for references, which I gladly gave, and to wait a few days for paperwork.
A couple of days later, she gives me a call asking if I'd be willing to speak to the General Manager of the company, as a final interview (this was never mentioned before). I was getting a bit frustrated at this point, since interviewing makes me very anxious and it basically takes off all my energy. Up to that point, I talked to her, and two other people. That's three interviews. And they want me to talk to a FOURTH person?! She gave me a verbal job offer already!
So I ended up having my call with him, and he asked me questions about if I had experience with Salesforce (this also was never mentioned in any of the interviews prior) and I said I've never worked with Salesforce before. After that, nothing. Haven't received any paperwork and it's now over a week since the verbal offer. I sent a follow-up email with the Marketing Director asking if she had an update for me. She called me today saying that they weren't going to move forward with me, because I didn't have Salesforce experience they were really looking into someone with knowledge of that tool (you had THREE interviews prior to bring this up and no one ever did, hello?!?!). And some other bs about how the position is "evolving" and how much she likes me and how great I am and it's not about it (it never is, huh?).
So all in all, I wasted hours of my time on a company that bailed last minute after giving me a verbal offer because of a tool that I lacked experience in, which they NEVER asked me about. I honestly don't know why I made this post other than rant, but clearly all these companies post-COVID are losing their minds. I've been unemployed 10 months now and this was my best shot at a job and it blew up in my face.
Back to the drawing board for me!
