At the moment, I am running a small business of sorts. It's mostly an online marketplace. The market is extremely competitive, but I have been able to find moderate success with low prices and offering rare items others do not. I would prefer to increase prices as the store grows considerably, which means less sales, but any sales I do get would make it more worth the effort put in.
In addition to this, I also work for a family friend remodelling homes. The pay is probably better here. But the work is also highly unpredictable. There was a lot of missed work too, due to the pandemic hitting. I hope to pick up more time with this job, but it constantly relies on her planning what to do next. It doesn't work like most jobs where you simply show up and work.
I am sitting on $600 and it is dwindling. It is confusing and stressful, as I am devoted to my business and always make back what money I invest and then some. I have taken it upon myself to focus all of my free time on work. The only problem is both jobs are unreliable at times.
If I can manage to turn my business into a back burner operation, along with improving my skills there, it would open me up to so much more free time spent elsewhere. I am desperate to not have to worry about being broke all of the time.
As of writing, I have given up on time-sucking pastimes like social media and gaming. Also attempting to cut out any unnecessary expenses. This is difficult but necessary. I want to devote myself entirely to work, because I am so sick of feeling trapped. I don't even have friends.
What can someone like me even do in this position? My business requires me to be stationed at home at least every other day to fulfill orders. Therefore, it seems only natural to take up another online job. But all there seems to be are transcription (which I failed at) and call representation (which I can't do around small children all day). I want to work more, I just don't know how.
