I'm a research assistant and have been asked in the past for referrals of any friends to take up spositions in my lab in the past. However I recently learned that the current technician in my lab was not planning on renewing their contract and my parent had recently been laid off from their position of 10+ years and has been struggling to find another position. So I was wondering if it would be a wise decision to refer my parent for the vacancy after the current tech leaves? I typically hear of parents referring their children for job positions but never the other way around like in my scenario so I wasn't sure of how that would be viewed. I would also be leaving the lab soon as well so I wouldn't have to worry about whatever problems that might occur from family members working together if that's something to consider.
