This is pretty fresh, I need some advice!
Yesterday, I had an interview for a remote position. The interview went great, and in fact the interviewer said I was checking off all the boxes! This was very exciting to hear! By the end of the interview, to my surprise, I had received a verbal offer. However, I had a second interview about an hour later. I told them that I can get back to them as early as the next two days. Interviewer agreed and told me to send them an email within two days, if they hear from me, we will move forward with the paperwork, if not, they will assume I had taken a different job. We ended the zoom call there. I was excited, it was a cool position and a very cool job! But I wanted to see how the second interview played out.
The second interview was a nightmare and I even asked the interviewer not to continue in the process as I wasn't interested.
This is where things get a little sad... I guess. I had emailed the first company accepting the offer about 3 hours after my second interview (Total of 5 hours after the interview with them). I wrote to them accepting the position and asking for the next steps.
No response until the next day (today). This is where I get a message that goes something along the lines of "Thank you for your interest... blah blah.... . As you know, other candidates were interviewed last week, as well as, soon after your interview. As these candidates had confirmed their strong interest at that time, the positions were filled"
Now I get it, verbal offers are not binding. And I get its over, I missed my chance... life sucks, move on. However, they said that they will keep my file and contact me for more opportunities. I just don't care anymore. The company lost my trust and I have no interest in working for them anymore and in the future, because of this stupid situation.
I want to respond to them voicing my displeasure with their process, and ask them firmly to remove my from their files. Is this a smart thing to do? What can I write to make it obvious that I am not happy with this? Is that even a smart idea?
