So I am going to lay out a timeline in order along with the messages I will change names to keep their privacy and my privacy
Background: I applied for a job at a hospital that isn't related to COVID 19 crisis. Its as a microbiology lab technician.
April 3rd: I interviewed for the position and it went really well. I felt like I was able to develop a decent enough relationship with the interviewers and it paid off.
April 8th: I got a call from the hiring manager saying that they are interested in giving me a job pending a reference check. They said that I should be getting an email soon for place where I can input my references.
April 10th: I received the email requesting my references
April 14: I submitted my references and notified the hiring manager that I submitted the references. He then said " The recruiter will handle everything from this point forward. There is a new recruiter named Recruiter 2." I responded " Is it possible I could have their number I have a question for them." He responded "I don't have a phone number they just got put into this position on Friday. Her email is ......" I responded saying " Thank you so much look forward to hearing back from you and working with you."
I emailed both recruiters asking my question about my references and one responded saying the following
"Hello Candidate,
We have received the references we need from you, so you are good on your end. We are sending those to the managers that need to approve them. Because of the Covid 19 situation, we have a few more approvers than normal and the process can sometimes take a bit of time. But if you have any questions in the meantime, feel free to reach out to Recruiter 2 or myself (Recruiter 1).
I responded
Dear Recruiter 1
Thank you let me know if you need anything else. Do you have an idea of how long it will take?
Candidate
Recruiter 1 responded
I am not sure. Hoping to hear something by the end of the week.
I waited till the end of the week and got no call or anything so I emailed him and left a voice mail.
April 17
Dear Recruiter 1
I am hoping to inquire the status of my application since it's the end of the week. I was hoping you heard something?
Sincerely
Candidate
I got no response from him so I emailed recruiter 2 after the weekend. Because I seriously thought I did not get the job.
April 20th
Dear Recruiter 2
I am a candidate for the unregistered microbiology lab technician. I submitted all my references needed last tuesday and I have not heard back yet about whether I got the job or not? I am wondering if I am still in the running and where I am in the process?
Sincerely
Candidate
Recruiter 2 responded
Hi Candidate,
We are still waiting for final approvals for hiring at this time. We will let you know once we have any updates.
Thanks for your patience and understanding,
Recruiter 2
I responded
Dear Recruiter 2
Thank you for the update. I will let you know that sometimes I have a hard time receiving automated emails from your company. Let me know when you send it. Do you know when to expect final approvals to be made?
Sincerely
Canidate
She has not responded and I did not get a response as of this post.
TLDR: I got an offer on condition of good references. I provided them and I have just been told that final approvals are still waiting to be made.
Any advice or insight. I know recruiters are on this sub and give advice. My question is when should I reach out or should I at all and give up on the job offer? Any advice or insight how the covid 19 situation is affecting offers?
Sorry about the long post I just wanted to make sure everybody has the information I have.
