Trying to find a new job , but feeling like I have little experience.

I graduated from university in May of 2019. I studied English with a concentration in Professional Writing. It was a weird major since it also included graphic design classes with your regular writing courses. I'm very happy with what I studied since I absolutely love writing and creating content, visual or written. As such, I managed to become the Editor in Chief of my University's literary magazine. I've done a little freelance work with copy editing, but it wasn't much. I also have been published in a small magazine for a short story I wrote. I pride myself on all my writing endeavors, since it's all I really want to do.

However, I feel uncertain of my future. Due to unforeseen circumstances I was only able to obtain one internship, and it was during my final semester. It was at a country club, and I was supposed to help get their image out there to a different audience, but in the end I only made posters for events happening at the club, I edited some of their documents and I worked on their website a bit. I didn't really feel like I learned anything while I was there. As such, I feel like I left college without any real experience I can show highering managers :/ Now I've got my degree, and the only jobs I've managed to get are contract positions. The only exception is that my latest contract position lead to full time. Problem is, I definitely dont want to work here. I'm an Escrow Assistant, and it very much doesnt involve what I studied nor what I want to do. I've had plenty of interviews for writing positions, including working for newspapers, and some for technical writing. But, I've come up cold even though the interviewer seemed to like my energy and what I could bring to the table. I've been told time and time again that the reason I didnt get the position was becuase of experience. How do I move forward? How do I get more experience without being given a chance? Honestly, I know it sounds odd considering the current state of affairs in America, but I'd gladly take a position that pays less, so long as it helps push me forward in the direction I want to be in, instead of glue me down like the job I currently have.
