Oil rig worker as first job

I want to become an oil rig worker, especially in uk, from what I have read on the internet it sais that you only need a college to be an engineer but to be a worker not, just 3 days of pretraining, I will turn 18 and anyway want to leave romania for the uk, could I just get there and get a job?
