I applied for a job as an Asset Protection Manager at Home Depot. The salary was around 60K. I passed the first online testing interview, then I passed a phone interview and today I went in for the in person interview. I have experience in this field and I have an M.B.A. The interview went great! After 45 minutes the interviewer was very impressed and went to the store manager for approval. She returned to tell me that there never was an Asset Protection Manager position available (I have 3 emails from Home Depot that a directly related to this specific position that I applied for). Instead, they offered me an entry level position as a customer service representative for $13 per hour. They said I will be able to move up but that is all they have available. Now there is nothing wrong with that job, but I would not be able to make my monthly mortgage payment…ever! Does this happen? Do places advertise jobs that don’t exist and try to make you take something you don’t want? I wasted a week on the process.
