I am trying to decide between 3 things.
- Try to get into a top ten MBA school and then land a job with a prestigious firm like one of the big 3 MBB consulting firms.
- Try to get into officer candidate school and become a Naval Officer
- Try to live really cheaply and find my creative passion even if it won't bring in much money. (I do graphic design, video editing, and music production for fun, and it would be cool to make money at it)
Some background on me. 25 M. Graduated with a honors and a B.A. in International Affairs. Got my foot in the door at a Bank being to be a Mortgage Loan Officer for a year and a half. Didn't like. Then moved on to a small Investment Banking consulting firm in NYC, doing bank compliance and regulation work. It was good for a little while, but I grew sick of NYC and the job was not challenging and left me feeling like I wasn't reaching my full potential.
Something I like about the Navy is the discipline you learn and the responsibilities you are trusted with as an officer. And I think being required to commit to something for at least 4 years might be good for me, as I feel like I have kind of been job hopping since college. Another benefit is that the military will pay for me to get a masters after I get out if that's still something I want to do. Only thing is that over the past 3 years I've had reconstructive wrist surgery, and 2 ACL surgeries on the same knee, so I don't even know if they would be interested in me because of all my injuries.
