So I made a huge mistake. I applied to this dream job, had really great phone interview w hiring manager and HR, scheduled my in person, then freaked out the night before thinking I was going to botch my interview presentation, burn all bridges at my current job, if I left (i've only been at my current role for about a year). I emailed the hiring manager and HR telling them I was withdrawing my application, again, the DAY BEFORE my interview, saying I was having serious anxiety and guilt about leaving my current role as they have recently awarded me some awards and 100% reimbursement to a pHd program and that I was really sorry and didn't want to waste anyones time interviewing. NOW (one day later) I am feeling immense regret (because this was a job I was actually really excited about), don't know if I even want to get my phd, and the position would prob offer me a lot more money than my current role. HR had responded to my email saying they were sad I was withdrawing and to let them know if anything changes. I also was referred to the position by an old colleague (reporting to the same manager I would be) who was very cool about the entire situation.
My question is: Do you think I ruined my chances completely? do you think there is any feasible way to save myself from this situation? or is it a "make my bed and now lie in it" type deal.
