Unemployed for months, finally landed a job I hate, so I want to keep applying. How do I explain to interviewers why I want to leave the new job so soon?

As the title suggests: I was unemployed for almost 7 months after a layoff, and finally landed an offer where I started working 3 weeks ago. I’m not a cultural fit, it’s not a role I wanted for my resume and makes no sense for my field, I hate the work, and the pay is terrible - I dread going every day. But it was better than no job! In the meantime, I’d been interviewing with an absolute dream job that I was sure I’d get an offer for, but got an unexpected rejection. So now, I’m back on the job-hunting train.

I’d like to leave my new job ASAP, but I’m not sure how to frame that to interviewers. I feel like I can either:

  1. Not put the new job on my resume at all and frame it as if I’m still unemployed. I feel it’d be hard to explain what I’ve been doing for the past ~8+ months of unemployment, though, besides a quick internship I picked up.
  2. Put the new job on my resume, even though it makes no sense for the types of jobs I’d be applying to, and come up with an excuse for why I want to leave so soon. I suppose I’d try to frame it as “This job is what I’m truly passionate about.”

Any ideas? I don’t want to put myself in a bad spot later by pretending to not have the new job, but also don’t want to come across as flaky or indecisive to new employers.
