Should I feel bad for leaving my current company in the lurch?

So here's the story. There are supposed to be two people doing my job. It was me and a partner, C, for the longest time. C took an internal position and a new person was hired to replace her, T. C's transfer to the new position was delayed a month so we could both train T. The day before C's transfer, T quits. The transfer still takes place because it was too late to stop or delay it. I am now the only one left, doing the job of two people. While this is unsustainable in the long run, it is doable in the short term.

My boss is going on vacation for the month of March. He has a few prospects and someone will likely be offered the position soon enough. However, my boss has said told me that whoever is hired won't start until he's back from his vacation in April. He needs to be at work oversee their training.

I had been thinking for a while about moving on. I've had a few good interviews and an offer may be forthcoming. If that happens, I will likely have to give notice to my boss's boss. I will also leave the department and the company in the lurch. My plan had initially been to have at least one person here and doing the job so some things could continue until the department was fully staffed again. But obviously things didn't work out that way. If I do end up being offered a job elsewhere, should I feel bad about leaving them in the lurch?
