So I have been working at this store for 11 months. We have had 2 managers leave before this one was fired. She worked there for years and I am not sure what she was fired for. I was given a heads up by a coworker that the head manager was going to offer me the position.
I am nervous about accepting it because of the responsibility. This was my first real and I have only been there for 11 months. I am also 18 so I’m not sure how seriously I’ll be taken as a manager. I do know how to do most things in the office as I did work behind the customer service desk. I’m just worried about dealing with issues that may come up.
This is less of an issue but I am also unsure as to if I should ask for a raise if I am offered the position. I was already offered a raise but since I worked minimum wage already I still don’t make a lot ($8.50 an hour). I’m not sure how much to ask for if it does come up, but I don’t want to be taken advantage of because of it.
So I was wondering if any of you who worked as a manager have any advice for accepting a position, or just being a manager in general. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.
