My ex-boss made it seem like I was fired (I quit). Does this reflect badly on their character or mine?

Job A: the one I’m quitting Job B: 2nd job I started to help survive

After 2+ years working in a position with I didn’t think was helping me evolve I decided to quit.

I have my 2 weeks notice but I was already over it. I had spent my heart and soul in this job, which was severely underpaid. It resulted in health challenges from stress.

Background: this is a small business with the boss and me (manager). We then have contract workers, so no employees.

When I submitted my two weeks, the boss asked for a number of items which I thought was ridiculous but I said I would do it. I also agreed to an exit interview that I never wanted to go to (I thought it was mandatory And I only found out through research that it’s voluntary).

After deadly committing, I had every intention of attending the exit meeting for Job A but Job B (slowly becoming a full-time job) became unexpectedly extremely hectic with rush work and urgent deadlines for the following day. It became too stressful trying to complete these tasks + finish the (semi-ridiculous) tasks Job A wanted me to complete ahead of the meeting.

Needless to say it was too much and taking a toll on my health (not exaggerating). So I sent a formal email with as much of her tasks completed and said I would be resigning immediately. The boss then texts me saying they were confused and if I won’t be attending the meeting the following day. When I apologised(very professionally) and stated the reason they texted “wow. Okay”.

The following day they booted me from the company group chat (with the contract workers), and told them I am no longer representing the company and has no affiliation. For the previous manager they said “XYZ is leaving us, thank you for all you have done!”.

I got a ton of messages from workers I don’t even speak to often trying to figure how and why I got fired since I was such a hard worker and ran the company well. They were even very confused as to why she sent the message in that tone. Everyone did a double take when they found out I gave in my notice two weeks prior.

At first, I didn’t know that she had sent a rude announcement out. I thought that they just saw I had been removed and that was why they were inquiring.

All of this said, I think in the end she made herself look bad because the inquiring parties now know that I resigned and wasn’t fired as she is insinuating.
