Graduated with a STEM degree in May. Applied to 100 jobs and couldn’t find anything. Finally got an offer and took it. I’m an ophthalmic technician and make $17.50/hr in Ohio.
I’ve only been in the military and college so I’m not 100% sure of typical office etiquette.
So I don’t work Friday’s, but I work 7-1pm on Saturday’s. Every Saturday. I am in a new long distance relationship (2 hour drive), so this is kind of a huge problem for me. I would like to ask if I could have one Saturday a month off, or if I could work Friday possibly at another location to make up for it.
Is that asking too much? My beliefs are very employee focused, I think people work wayyyy too much, and I 100% should just get the day off for my own sanity, but I know life doesn’t work that way. (I don’t think I’m special, I just think people’s personal lives matter way more than employers think)
Is there a certain amount of time I should wait before I say anything? This place only gives me 3 PTO days and my sisters getting married this year...
