Can I just say that the job search is basically the biggest emotional challenge I've been through?

I just turned 30. My late 20's were taken up by school and the legal process of becoming a permanent resident here in the US. It was difficult, but my partner and I made it work. I got my green card and I have a job but it's a throwaway job that is merely for survival reasons. I don't even list it on my resume.

Anyways, I've been aggressively looking for a new job for the past 2 months. At first, I was applying anywhere and everywhere. December resulted in zero interviews, which I figured would be the case . I managed to get a bunch of interviews this past month though, which was nice. However, they were a mixed bag of career-related ones and non-career-related ones. None of these interviews turned to actual offers.

I was really hoping to land in something new already. I've been feeling down because my "timeline" has not been met. However, my focus has shifted to REALLY targeting a career-related job (entertainment...sigh). I've been applying to mostly receptionist/admin assistant roles and a few writer ones here and there. In any case, the reason I made this post was to simply say that this has been one of the hardest psychological challenges I've been through. I've always wanted a career in entertainment but it hasn't been until now that I'm FINALLY REALLY trying to get in on it.

For the most part, my work history has been simply jumping from one thing to another to just pay the bills. I really want to stop doing that and start building a career in entertainment. It's just been so incredibly difficult because I really hate my current job. I'm just trying to hold onto my sanity. After coming on this sub and reading a few threads, I've come to realize that the job hunt is truly a test of inner strength and willpower. I try not to fall too in love with a job but it's hard when you're itching for something new, something better. Anyway I'll end it here since this has gotten kinda long.
