Does your salary increase every year in the US?

I'm wondering, because I know that if you work for the government or state, your salary increases every year kinda like seniority. But idk if that is the same for private sect or non-profit organization?

So like, once i start working in a non-profit organization is my salary gonna stay the same every year or does it increase?
