So, this issue is sort of 3 fold. (Keeping vague just in case) 1, my job is very tumultuous, working with people and people not in a good mental state. And as such I've garnered a MASSIVE amount of stress. 2, on top of the stressful nature of the job, I work ALOT, usually over 60 hours a week. All of this has lead to a severe decline in my mental state, to the point where I'm being prescribed SSRI's for the extreme anxiety and depression but I ended up with stress induced lockjaw over the weekend. I was telling my boss why I had to leave early and explained my drs concern with how much I'm working. His immediate response was "I'm not lowering your hours", before I had even suggested it. After the early day off and my usual 2 days off, I woke up with zero pain this morning. However within less than 5 minutes of being at work, I was clenching my jaw, shooting pains down my neck, headache, brain fog, eye strain, and just the general desire to crawl in a hole and die. 3, I'm considering getting it in writing the request to lower my hours... the problem here is; none of us are SUPPOSED to be working so many hours. We're only supposed to be scheduled 40. The rest of the hours appear on the schedule as voluntary.. but they aren't. It's a way to get around HR. And if I were to bring in drs notes, HR would find out I'm being scheduled over my 40 rather than voluntarily taking those extra hours and that would probably cause so much hostility that I might as well quit..
I'm really not sure how to proceed here.. if I can't get my hours lowered, even just to 50, I don't know how long I can keep this up, because I'm terrified of taking the SSRIs, no matter how much they'd help and I'm just in so much physical pain right now that I'm at a loss. I'm trying to move, so just walking out isn't an option and I can't even look for a new job until after I move. How would you handle this? And how do I survive until I can make changes safely? (I literally have zero family or support so if I mess up or make too rash of a decision, I'm shafted.)
