Alright first off, obligatory on mobile clarification. Going to include background info because I think it’s important, and then will get to my current problem and situation. Sorry it’s long. My job problem has taken over my life and I don’t know what to do, I just really need some advice.
BACKGROUND: So, I have been interested in working as a patient care technician for a certain hospital organization in my area for a while now. I took a course at my community college to become a CNA this last semester, because it was required to get a job at most of this orgs individual hospitals. Of course, I didn’t know that, so last summer I applied for several of these positions with no luck, and no response, until one day someone called me to let me know they chose someone else, and finally let me know that this was required, therefore, enrolled in class. I recently finished that class and have my state exam scheduled, it was supposed to be today but the weather was bad so it got cancelled. I applied for a position last month, spoke with 2 recruiters, filled out a prequalifying exam type quiz, and gave her my references, which were all completed. After I submitted the prequalifying quiz, I never heard back.
CURRENT SITUATION: I applied for 3 jobs that I am very interested in on January 5th. I purposely applied early In the month because I’m aware that their particular hiring process takes quite a while and I happen to know that they normally do their orientation at the beginning of the month with all the new hires. I waited until the Thursday after applying to call the recruiter I spoke to last month. She didn’t answer so I left a voicemail stating that I’d like to get in touch to discuss my application, she didn’t call back. So I called her again this Tuesday, no answer, left the same sort of message, and surprise, no call back. I decided on Wednesday that calling was no longer working, and maybe emailing would get their attention for more than a “oh I have a voicemail, I’ll listen to it later” moment. I emailed the other recruiter involved last month, explained what positions I applied for, left my phone number, etc.
My Dilemma: Am I trying to get in touch too much for having my application in for only two weeks? My boyfriend thinks I should “try harder and call more” because it shows that I’m truly interested in the job, but I’ve tried 3 times and I feel like if they really wanted to hire me they would have at least tried to reach out by now, and I’m afraid of the recruiters thinking I’m annoying and not hiring me. Does anyone have any advice?
