I work for a small company and I’m looking for something new. In the application I’m currently working on (and previous ones), they’ve asked for my current employer’s name and phone number and to check the box if it’s okay to contact them.
Since my company is small and I have a relationship with my boss, I’m nervous that allowing the company to contact my current employer will affect my job, especially if I’m not offered a position. On the other hand, I’m nervous saying no will hurt my chances of getting this job I’m applying for.
Is it okay to say no in this case? Should I provide the name and number and still say no?
Thanks!
