A few months ago I left my job, as it was becoming toxic and I could no longer do it. I'm 21 and I've worked there since I was 13, it was the only Job I've ever had.
I've applied to a few places, gotten interviews, and they went seemingly well, but I didnt end up taking the job due to wage.
I recently had one interview with a small local business. The interview was shortly before the holidays , and went very well (or so I thought). At the end, the woman said she had a lot of interviews, but she really liked the sounds of me (I have experience in the field, am close, etc) and said she would be in touch with me after she finished her interviews. Because it was around the holidays I wasnt expecting I super fast reply, and I texted her in the first week of the new year asking her if she filled the position, and she said no, and she was intending to give me a call and will touch base the next day.
The next day came and went with nothing. She texted me after the weekend and said "hi -my name-" I greeted her, asked about her weekend, said I was going to text her, but wondered if perhaps she ending up filling the position. She didnt answer.
I texted her the next day, "hello _____? Did you get my message?" She apologized, she had been busy. I say it's ok, she says she will touch base this past week, and now it's the weekend with nothing.
It's not a huge deal, and I'm not holding out for this job or anything and have been actively looking and applying for others. But the back and forth is bothering me, like if you dont want to hire me that's ok! But why say you're going to call me and dont? Like I said, I've only had one job before so I'm not really familiar with all this. Is this something I can expect alot from potential employers, or have I done something wrong?
