I went through a few rounds of interviews for this great opportunity before the holidays, the week before Christmas. Everything went great, and at the end of the last round, I was asked, "What does your availability look like in the next few weeks for the next step in the process?" Exactly like that. Not sure if it meant anything, but it seemed pretty positive to me. One of my interviewers went out of town for the holidays, so my interview was pushed up to the day before they left. So, I wasn't expecting much for the next couple of weeks.
At the beginning of January, about 3 weeks ago, I sent HR an email because I was curious about where they were in the process or if anything had changed. They responded and told me that the hiring manager was still interviewing other candidates, and they'll let me know when that was done. It makes sense because it felt like I was one of the first candidates that they interviewed. I also know that they are looking for multiple people for this position, so I'm not sure if that affects the length of the process in any way.
I've tried to move on and I've kept applying for other opportunities. It's kind of tough because this was the best opportunity that has popped up in a while, and it wasn't until today that I realized how much time has passed and I'm now internally panicking, wondering if they'll forget about me or something. I just don't want to make the mistake of putting all my eggs in one basket.
From HR's response, I'm not sure if another follow up would be welcomed. I made the mistake of not asking for an estimated time frame the first time. So, I was wondering if there was any possibility for me to send another follow up email asking for one. The last thing I want to do is bother them and that's what's making me feel iffy about sending that second follow up email. It's a large company and I know they have their process to follow. I did some "stalking" on LinkedIn and the company's website prior to writing this up, and it looks like nothing has changed. I just thought it would put my mind at ease to potentially receive another update. If it's not a good idea, I'll just leave it at that.
Thanks!
