I recently was not offered a job with a company that I had 9 separate interviews with. I made it to the final step and even had an interview with the CEO at one point, which I think is a good sign considering this is by no means a small company.
I was turned down and told that they were looking for a more Senior Engineer, which is fair considering the initial posting was asking for several years of experience, while I only had 1 year of experience.
So what I'm thinking is to contact the hiring manager and see if I could pitch the idea of bringing me on as an intern, but I'm not sure if this is a good idea. I really enjoyed my interviews with them, and know I made a great impression. I also figure if I made it that far with the experience odds against me, I might have a good shot.
Any thoughts? How would I go about phrasing this email if I decide this is what I should do?
Edit: Forgot to clarify that the field is Software Engineering. More specifically Web Development.
