Should I leave a minimum wage retail job for janitor work?

I've been going back and forth on this subject for a while.

About 2 years ago, a janitor of an academy I went to suggested that if I needed work, to go and apply at his place of employment. He recommended me for it and everything. Unfortunately, I was too young, and they told me to come back the next year.

I never did that. I got a job as a cashier at the minimum wage. I've been there since around June or July now. Needless to say, I'm not happy where I am. Sure, its extra money, and I'm grateful for it. However, I've been in college for a few years now, and I want a car to navigate freely for that. The retail job is not going to help me in those efforts. I would get a 50 cent raise when (1) I'm there for a year, or (2) when I join a different department. I'm too young to join any of the other departments, haha!

So instead of playing the waiting game again , I wanted to try the janitor job, as I'm of age. According to the janitor that suggested me, they start out 3-5 dollars more than what I'm getting paid. I've learned about proper custodial procedures myself when it comes to cleaning products. The only issue is the possibility of bodily fluids? My retail job had me cleaning all types of messes, but I get queasy sometimes. My mother has suggested some precautions I can take because I HATE cross-contamination when it comes to clothes, in case I get something on them.

Basically, I'm asking: Should I leave "summer job" minimum-wage retail, and risk it doing higher-paying custodial work, where I may have to clean something unsightly?
