Greetings a little background about my current work. I have been working as a web designer for 5 years in my current company. The first few years are great but as the years progresses, the management's handling of their workforce is starting to get worse in my opinion. I was originally in a team of 6 but as of this day, we were reduced just to two. While the work is still manageable, the management now decided to give us additional tasks as we are having some "downtime". The reason for this is that the website sales are not constant so there are a few weeks that we have less work and some weeks where we are bombarded by a huge number of tasks.
During this period, I think my mental and physical well being is affected by this work, I had episodes of high blood pressure and the usual burnouts. During my rest day I was browsing through work postings and found a work from home job. I tried applying just for the heck of it and was shocked that I immediately passed the interview and was given the job offer. The job pays twice as much compared to my current job and being able to work at home is really a god-send for me.
My problem now is that the offer's start date is really close. I wouldn't have the time to file a 30 day notice on my current work and this being as my first job. I'm not sure if my current work would let me resign without complying to the 30 day render period. I can try to request for a immediate resignation due to health issues (as I have been confined and had many instances that I had to the hospital due stress-related reasons) but in the event of that not being approved is it worth rising the 5 year experience, just to get this job.
I'll try to talk to the new company that I'm applying it if they will give me a time-frame to render on my current job. But if they don't should I just quit at my current job and never return (this would be counted as AWOL)
I have been bothered by this for days and would like some opinions or suggestions regarding my current dilemma. Thank you in advance for your help guys and seasons greetings.
