I 29 [F] work with a group of other women in nursing at a hospital. One of my co-workers since she started over a year ago doesn't like to socialize to with the rest of the department because my department is known as the one with a lot of drama and from experience yeah I hung out with the other girls and it didn't end well as one made up this stupid story that I helped one of my friends cheat on one of their boyfriends at a party which wasn't true and I was jeered and mocked for it.
My co-worker has pretty much been ostracized, mocked, the other girls deliberately act petty toward her and even try to get physical. Issue is she doesn't really know how to stand up for herself. It's an even bigger issue when human resources is friends with a couple of them in our department. How can she stand up for herself while she tries looking for another job and what can she say to defend herself and give others an incentive or hint that this behavior is stupid and needs to stop?
