Hello! I am a college student looking for a part-time job and a fairly popular restaurant near my school is hiring wait staff. Now, the issue that I have always run into when waiting jobs open up is they ask for previous experience working in a restaurant. When I was younger my family owned a restaurant but I technically didn't work at it and it was not a sit-down place.
Unless I am missing something, waiting tables isn't rocket science. I think I'm solid in high-pressure scenarios, enjoy customer service (I worked a retail job since 10th grade but it burned down), and am pretty quick to learn new things. I'm pretty confident I can learn as I go along but I don't know how I can convince an interviewer that I'm qualified.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
