How do I approach my manager about transferring locations?

I just started my job about 1 month ago, I like the job and the people are okay. The location is sort of sketchy and it’s a really small store where forward growth would be hard.

I want to transfer to the main store, there’s more mobility, I like the location better.

I live 1 hour away from my current store, and the commute would be the same for the other store I want to move to.

After 6 months, how can I approach my manager? What excuse can I give? There won’t be upward mobility if I stay here.
