Ok. I know its bad.
I graduated from law school and after months of no luck finding a job, I decided to look more locally and got hired at a small firm. Now I live in an ethnic enclave and I knew the reputation about law firms in the area as being shady, but I was so sick of sitting at home I decided to give it a try. I had been at a small firm for an internship and I really liked it even though it was a different area of law.
Unfortunately, the firm is a mess. They wanted to hire an entry level attorney fresh out of school but I found out I was the first one they ever hired. They never had interns before either. I dont need my hand held for everything, but the supervision is literally zero. I am uncomfortable asking questions at this point. One attorney is just bad at explaining things, the other attorney gets agitated. The are constantly late with everything and all the work I do revolves around fixing it. I am paid hourly at the moment for "training" and they have not discussed salary, but I really need health insurance, which they dont have yet.
I have never been in this position before but I simply DON'T see a future at this firm. I want to be honest and just tell the guy I dont think we are a match and that I dont want to waste his time and that they dont need to pay me for the week I was there (I barely put together any of the assignments and I am sure once they look at it they would not be pleased).
Also, another problem is that I am not admitted yet and the character and fitness will still be calling them to find out if I am a mess even if I was there for only a week.
